How to  Apply for Jobs Listed

All applications are received online. All applicants for law enforcement positions must complete a Lexington County Sheriff's Department application which can be accessed online also. Special conditions and procedures for law enforcement positions are explained on the position description.

Application Procedure

Your completed application will be reviewed by Human Resources. If you meet the minimum requirements for the position, your application will be forwarded to the appropriate County of Lexington Departmental Supervisor for employment consideration. A resume may be included with your application but may not be used as a substitute for a completed application or specific information requested about employment or education history.

Personal and professional references are required. You can use one application to apply for more than one vacancy.  Applications remain on the applicant system through the last day of the calendar year.   You may check the status of your application on-line.   Please save your USER ID and PASSWORD for future reference. 

Testing

For specific positions, the County may require a job related test. In most cases, these tests are required for clerical-administrative positions to evaluate typing, spelling, grammar, and computer skills. 

Interviewing and Hiring Process

Applicants who are selected for an interview will be contacted directly by the hiring official. An applicant who has been offered contingent employment will be required to authorize Lexington County to conduct a background investigation. Driving records are reviewed for all positions in which the applicant may operate a county vehicle.
