What CALEA is and why accreditation matters for a communications center:
CALEA (the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) is a nonprofit credentialing authority founded in 1979 by major law-enforcement executive associations to improve public-safety service delivery by developing professional standards and administering an accreditation process. For communications centers, CALEA’s Public Safety Communications Accreditation demonstrates a clear commitment to professional excellence and compliance with nationally recognized best practices.
Contact via telephone for general questions: Shawntiki Benson LCCC Accreditation Manager at 803-785-8614 or you may mail in comments or recommendations to Chief Sharmel Miller at 434 Ball Park Rd. Lexington, SC 29072.
