River Chase Way Collection & Recycling Center to Permanently Close; New Augusta Road Site to Open.

Lexington county, SC – The Riverchase Way Collection Center, located at 110 River Chase Way (between Lexington and West Columbia), will permanently close on Monday, September 1, at 7 p.m.

A new, expanded facility—the Augusta Road Collection & Recycling Center, located at 4765 Augusta Road—will officially open to the public on Friday, September 5, at 7 a.m.

Ahead of the official opening, Lexington County leaders and community members gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new facility and its role in supporting the region’s growth.

The opening of the Augusta Road Center will mark the completion of a project that has been nearly a decade in the making. The replacement project was first introduced in 2016, demonstrating the County’s long-term commitment to improving services for residents. “Closing Riverchase marks the end of an era, but the new Augusta Road site represents a major step forward in providing convenient, safe, and efficient services for our residents,” said Lee McIntyre, Director of Solid Waste Management.

The new Augusta Road Center is designed to be three times the capacity of the Riverchase facility, offering more efficient service to residents. Its location will also help reduce traffic congestion in the area, removing an estimated 175,000 vehicles each year from the Riverchase collection site.

Please note: There will be no service at either the Riverchase or Augusta Road site on Wednesday, September 3, while equipment is relocated. During this time, residents are encouraged to use any of Lexington County’s other collection centers.
